Overview

Cherry Creek Innovation Campus first approached Gorilla Netting in late 2020. The vision was to create a custom-built Netted Drone/UAV Enclosure the school could utilize for aviation fundamentals and drone pilot training programs. Gorilla Netting designed, engineered, and installed a netted drone enclosure to fit a specific footprint at the school, all of which was completed on time and within budget.

The netted drone enclosure consists of 4” treated knotted nylon netting, new class 1 wood poles, with dimensions reaching 40 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 30 feet high. Built Gorilla Strong™ to handle the Colorado weather!

Cherry Creek Innovation Campus is known for being a career and college preparedness facility for high school students in the Cherry Creek School District. With one of Cherry Creek’s courses on drone components, drone operation, and drone pilot skills, the students should find Gorilla Netting’s netted drone enclosure to be quite exciting and valuable to train in the natural environment.

As always, Gorilla Netting’s netting systems are backed by a five-year full coverage warranty on all materials, labor, and equipment involved in their netting system installation. We believe quality matters and when choosing a netting contractor, choose one that takes pride in their work.

Challenge

Despite the challenges posed by the tight space available on the campus and the winter weather conditions, Gorilla Netting designed and installed a 40-foot-long, 20-foot-wide, and 30-foot-high cable-stayed netting enclosure. This innovative design allowed the enclosure to fit snugly within the campus while ensuring that the students have ample space to test fly drones and conduct other related activities. The installation process, despite the tight space and winter weather conditions, was completed in just a week, showcasing Gorilla Netting’s expertise and capability in executing such projects efficiently.

Solution

This new netted drone enclosure is a valuable addition to the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus, offering students a safe and controlled environment to test fly drones and further their education in drone piloting. The campus, which is located in Centennial, Colorado, is a modern facility dedicated to providing high school students with hands-on training in various technical fields. The installation of this drone enclosure highlights the school’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and providing its students with the best possible resources for learning.

The successful completion of this project is not an isolated achievement for Gorilla Netting. We have a history of successfully installing netted drone enclosures in challenging environments. For instance, not long after the project for Cherry Creek, we completed a massive netted drone enclosure at the University at Buffalo. This project, funded by the United States Air Force’s Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), was designed for a Center of Excellence on Assured Autonomy in Contested Environments. The facility also hosted an advanced 5G-enabled enclosed environment for different classes of autonomous air and ground robotic systems.

Gorilla Netting’s expertise in designing and installing netted drone enclosures is well-documented. We have worked with various institutions, including the University of Florida and Elizabeth City State University, to provide safe and efficient drone testing environments. Our commitment to quality and safety, combined with their ability to work in challenging conditions, makes us a leader in the field of drone enclosure installations.
