Hillsborough County's Solid Waste Management Division needed to keep birds out of its transfer station in Hillsborough County, Florida. Gorilla Netting installed custom interior bird deterrent netting to block birds from entering through the front hangar door and nesting inside the active operational space.

The challenge

What the site was up against

Birds were getting into the transfer station through a large hangar-style entry opening.

The interior runs approximately 182 ft long and 50 ft high, so an off-the-shelf product would not work. The netting had to be customized on-site to conform to the building's structure.

The system we designed and installed

Gorilla Netting provided and installed custom bird deterrent netting spanning approximately 182 ft in length and up to 50 ft in height inside the facility.

The netting was customized on-site to fit the building layout, and a revised proposal sized the system to the county's approved budget.

The system was later expanded.

The outcome

What it means for the site

The transfer station now has custom interior netting that blocks birds from coming in through the hangar door, protecting the working environment and reducing the hazards of wildlife inside an active solid waste facility. The project came in within budget and was accepted by the county on completion.
