AfterSpringstead High School in Spring Hill, Florida reached out to Gorilla Netting in early 2021 for a netting system around its baseball and softball fields. Gorilla Netting designed and installed 600 ft of sideline perimeter and overhead netting on treated wood poles.
The challenge
What the fields were up against
Homes sit along the back side of Springstead's baseball and softball fields, and foul balls leaving the field put those homes at risk.
The people watching the games needed protection too. Without overhead and perimeter netting, stray balls and foul balls could reach spectators in the stands.
What we built
The system we designed and installed
Gorilla Netting designed a 600 ft sideline perimeter netting system and overhead netting using twisted knotted nylon netting.
The netting hangs on three sizes of wood poles set at 25 ft, 50 ft, and 68 ft above grade. The poles come from sustainable tree farms and are treated for durability, and the netting is made to order for the site.

What it means for the school
Springstead High School's baseball and softball fields have 600 ft of sideline perimeter and overhead netting on wood poles 25, 50, and 68 ft high, protecting spectators and the homes behind the fields from foul balls, with a full coverage 5-year warranty.
When Gorilla Netting met with school staff after the install, they were pleased with the netting, the project as a whole, and how much safer they would be watching games under the new overhead netting.
