AfterMcRae Correctional Institution, a CoreCivic minimum-security facility for men in Telfair County, Georgia, first reached out to Gorilla Netting in early 2018. It hired Gorilla Netting to install a security perimeter netting system to mitigate contraband entering the facility.
The challenge
What the facility was up against
Like many correctional facilities, McRae faces the threat of contraband entering the facility. Weapons, drugs, and cell phones inside a facility put both security staff and inmates at risk.
Contraband delivered by drone adds another challenge, one that calls for a physical barrier working alongside the facility's existing security measures.
What we built
The system we designed and installed
Gorilla Netting installed a turnkey security perimeter netting system 1,335 ft long and 50 ft high, built on new Class H-1 wood poles with 1 in knotless polyester diamond mesh netting.
The structure was engineered by a licensed professional engineer and built to the local building wind code or higher.
