Overview
Gorilla Netting successfully completed a perimeter netting repair and mending project at Putnam Park in Palm Harbor, Florida. The project was initiated by the City of Palm Harbor’s Parks & Recreation Department to address the issues of decaying and vegetation-overgrown sports netting surrounding the soccer fields at Putnam Park. The project was divided into two phases: the initial repair and maintenance of the existing netting, and the subsequent installation of new perimeter netting.

Challenge
The primary challenge faced by Gorilla Netting was the condition of the existing sports netting, which was torn and severely decayed due to years of exposure to the elements and lack of maintenance. Additionally, the overgrown vegetation had further damaged the netting and hindered the repair process. The project was also delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions, as heavy rainfall prevented the team from accessing the site for several weeks.
Solution
Gorilla Netting’s team of experts worked diligently to address the challenges presented by the project. The first phase involved extensive clean-up and removal of vegetation overgrowth, which was necessary to assess the extent of the damage to the existing netting. Once the weather conditions improved, the team repaired and mended the torn and decayed netting, extending its life until a budgeting for the next phase of netting could be allocated.
The second phase of the project will involve the replacement of the repaired netting system with new sports netting and hardware, as well as an extension on the west end of the field. This phase will commence once the budget is allocated by the City of Palm Harbor. In addition to the work at Putnam Park, Gorilla Netting will also be tasked with installing new sports netting at Sunderman Park in Palm Harbor during another budget allocation by the City of Palm Harbor.
