The challenge

What the park needed

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay needed netting in three parts of the park in summer 2024: overhead net beneath a large coaster, a net canopy over a coaster entrance plaza and the carousel, and a vertical screen beside a coaster loop next to the park railway. Some of the work ran at night.

What we built

The system we designed and installed

In June, the crew strung wire rope between the coaster's steel support columns and hung black knotted net flat beneath the track, over the roadway below.

In July, the crew hung a black knotted net canopy on wire rope over the entrance plaza and the carousel, on new wood poles, with net side walls in places.

In August, working at night from lifts, the crew attached vertical panels of finer black mesh to steel poles along the coaster loop.

The outcome

What it means for the park

The park has finished overhead netting beneath the coaster and over the entrance plaza and carousel, plus a vertical mesh screen along the coaster loop.
