Gorilla Netting designed and installed a custom indoor drone curtain netting system at Brown University, in coordination with SMMA Architects and general contractor Suffolk Construction. The project delivered a purpose-built drone containment environment inside an existing university facility.
Client: Brown University
Location: Providence, RI
Services: Drone Enclosure
Challenge
Brown University required a custom indoor drone enclosure suitable for UAV flight operations within a controlled indoor environment. The system needed to be precisely fitted to the space, with curtain-style netting access panels on each end for operational flexibility.
Solution
Gorilla Netting installed a 51-foot long by 29-foot wide by 9-to-11-foot high (above grade) indoor drone curtain netting system using #36 1-7/8-inch knotted nylon netting and powerline/utility-grade hardware and wire rope. All netting panels were custom-built for the installation, and slit curtain doors were incorporated at each end. The system was provided with a full 5-year warranty on netting, materials, and labor.
Outcome
Gorilla Netting was awarded the project following a competitive review coordinated by Suffolk Construction and SMMA Architects. The completed system provides Brown University with a secure, custom-fit indoor drone flight enclosure for research and training operations.
