Baseball and softball fields at all levels require a backstop system to keep balls and bats in the field of play while protecting spectators behind the plate.

It’s typical to see backstops that are constructed of chain link fencing. That’s the old way of doing things. “Out with the old, and in with the new.” as they say. Backstop systems these days are comprised of baseball netting, most of which made of knotted nylon netting, from dugout to dugout. Not all backstop systems run the length from home plate to the end of each dugout which can be an estimated 90’, but they will cover the immediate area behind home plate.

For our baseball and softball backstop systems, we utilize Treated Knotted Nylon or a specialty-made Dyneema® netting. Colors for these backstop nets come in black, and a specialty green color that blends well into the field of vision, it’s also recommended by MLB for their Pro Backstop Systems (contact us for more information). Dyneema Dyneema® is a registered trademark owned by Royal DSM N.V.

Our backstop netting systems can be installed with a new inline barrier system on support poles between the field of play and your fans, or attached to an existing stadium structure, or as a cable suspended tie-back backstop system, providing maximum viewing ability from the stands while staying protected. Contact us for more information on a backstop netting system for your facility.

If you’re going to build it, make sure it’s…

In 2015, the Major League Baseball Organization encouraged each team to extend/add netting, or some sort of protective barrier, to shield fans from balls and bats that sometimes go into the stands in all field-level seats between these near ends of both dugouts and within 70’ of home plate. At the start of 2018, not all teams have extended protective netting on their fields, but some are making a point to get it installed before the start of the season; said Marlins CEO Derek Jeter in a team release. “Prior to the start of the 2018 season, we will install new netting offering additional protection for those fans seated along the baselines at Marlins Park.”

At Gorilla Netting, we take tremendous pride in our work; our netting systems are second to none. We only use the best materials for our builds; we are innovative in our designs, and our installations are durable and stand the test of time.

Our team will work quickly, efficiently, and safely to install your netting system. All of our installations are covered by a full warranty provided to you once the installation is completed, and signed off by you.
